African Cattle Horn

You can blow the natural cow horn like a fanfare or trumpet. The Tuwa – as the signalling instrument is also known – sounds very loud and can be heard from afar.

Our species has been using animal horns to transmit messages since prehistoric times. Signalling horns were probably developed from drinking vessels. All they had to do was saw off the tip of the horn and the instrument was Ready.
