Our largest "star" in the firmament of membrane-mounted kalimbas. The octagonal kalimba also scores with a very long-lasting, warm sound and the best workmanship. The 13 reeds sit firmly on the frame, which is tightly covered with goatskin, and the C major pentatonic tuning is a great invitation to improvise. The semi-open construction allows for wonderful, long-sounding wah-wah effects to be played by moving up and down under a firm base.
